Sprinklers & Water On Roads Public Notice on Fencing Right of Way Permit

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Why are the Roads so rough and wash boarded?

Dry weather is some of the cause for the roads being rough

Wash boards can be caused by cars and trucks  slowing down to fast and braking hard then speeding up when They start going again and the gravel is loose. Roughness can also be caused by over loaded trucks braking through the crust of the road top.

  • What is the right-of way?

The right-of-way is 66 Ft. or 33 Ft. from the center of the road both ways.

  • How far back do we need to set a fence?

All fences should be set 34 Ft. from the center of the road. This is to allow       the road dept. to do ditch work when needed.

  • There is an irrigation pivot spraying on the road.

This is illegal and needs to be controlled by the operator of the land that the irrigation pivot is on. The operator or landowner can be fined.

  • Can I put a drive way or field approach where I want to?

No you need to contact the highway superintendent before you put a drive way or field approach in. This is so the highway dept. can determine if it is in a safe place or if it may need a culvert for drainage ( culvert will be at land owners expense. )

  • What do I need to do if I want to cross the road or run any line in the right-a-way?

You must obtain a permit from the Highway Dept. then turn it in to the Superintendent , then the Superintendent will take it to the Commissioners meeting to have it approved. The commissioners meet on the First and Third Tuesdays of each month.
